Getting Started: Intro to PVP |
PvP options within Age of Conan: · PvP mini-games · Massive PvP Siege warfare · Drunken Brawling · PVP servers |
PVP Mini-games: Mini games are similar to playing a pickup game of basketball in the park. You show up and get put on a team when the next game starts. Mini-games are meant to allow players to quickly enter into PvP play and have some fun. Capture the skull: Sorry, no flags here. It’s a rough world so don’t do any volunteering when this game starts and you hear the words “who has the skulls?”. - The game is played between two teams. - Each has a skull to protect. - The object of the game is to capture the other team’s skull and return it to your camp more times than your opposing team within a set amount of time. - The opposing team will of course try to make it as difficult as possible for you to even touch their skull. - Pick up the opposing team’s skull and expect to become very popular, their grunts looking to show you the business end of their swords. Team Annihilation: A rough game with simple rules. Two teams enter, one team leaves… - The game is played between two teams. - This is a timed game with the winner being the team that has killed most opposing team members. |
Massive PvP & Siege: Head out to the Border Kingdom with your guild, or hire yourself out for pay, and wage epic battles for control of player-owned battlekeeps. There are a limited number of these battlekeeps on each server, meaning combat will be fast and furious, and the benefits of owning one mean guilds will fight tooth and nail to keep theirs (or take away someone else’s!) These are epic battles in the border kingdoms and can go on for long periods of time between those who occupy the battlekeeps and those who wish to take control of them. - Battlekeeps are constructed by guilds in areas that are found to be good land to handle the construction upon it. Each building - Each building within your battlekeep will grant a bonus effect to some or all members of your guild. - Construction of new battlekeeps can take a few hours to a few days depending on scope and size - Seiges are initiated by another guild setting up a war tent outside your battlekeep as a declaration of war. This then triggers a call to arms to provide notice to players (to be fair and prevent “ninja keep takes”) - There will be many forms of equipment for siege attacks and defense such as trebechet, catapults, etc. |
Drunken Brawling: “Your weapons. You will not need them.” 1. Head to the pub 2. Drink until you can feel the world spinning 3. Start a fight with others who have become “enhanced by the local brew”
PvP Servers: For those who just can’t get enough PvP, Age of Conan features PvP-flagged servers with rules allowing widespread PvP. AoC also included PvP-RP servers which not only allows for a lot of PvP, but also features a robust ruleset encouraging roleplaying and staying “in-character”. |
