Getting Started: Race & Class |
|
Getting Started: Race & Class Selections: Please note there are no statistical differences between male or female characters, just appearance. Female fighters are just as strong as male fighters. To start: You will need to choose an archetype. An archetype is the type of class that you wish to play such as soldier, mage, priest or rogue. As your character gets more experience (and you for that matter) he or she will develop into a more specialized form, or class. Your choice should be towards what style of player you are. Soldier—someone who gets right into the thick of things. Prefers a close, in-your-face type of fight. Mage—someone who prefers to rely on magic rather then brute strength. Priest—someone who prefers to support the group with healing and possibly some fighting. Rogue—someone who prefers to rely on stealth and surprise.
Now that you know your archetype you will need to select the class. Each archetype has three classes with each with very distinct advantages and disadvantages. They will each have their own style of combat, feats and skills however their base set of skills all come from the same foundation of their archetype. To help make the choosing a class easier, the table below lists each archetype and some key information about each. With such a wide variety of choices, sometimes its best to try a few and then determine which one will be your main character. SO... you now know what class you wish to play. It is now time to select what race to be. As each race is different, not all races are meant to be lovers...er fighters just as some races are better meant to bash down the door rather then pick the lock. Since the game is still under development, race advantages and disadvantages are not finalized yet. This guide will be updated once they are more certain as to what will be in the final release. The class choice you selected below also lists the races permitted. Your now ready for the hardest choice… naming your character before you head into Tortage!
